According to the news, Bank of Cairo's listing on the Egyptian Exchange is worth about EGP 36.3 billion; headlines describe it as the biggest public offering in Egypt's history, and the share jumped as much as about 7% in the first minutes of trading (per morning headlines).

What it means for you

If you keep hearing the word 'IPO' today: part of the bank's shares can now be bought and sold by the public on the exchange — that's the news, not advice to buy or sell.

Our reading

In a week whose talk was all about the dollar and prices, today's biggest money story came from the stock exchange, not the market stall — a world most people watch from a distance.

Sources say

The video shows children copying their father's habits for laughs; its title frames it as habits passed down from one generation to the next.

What it means for you

If you have kids at home, you'll probably see yourself in this one — the good and the bad.

Our reading

Laughter and objections over the same scene say jokes about the Egyptian home still have limits — and people disagree on where they are.

Sources say

News reports and public Telegram channels say container ships have started crossing the Suez Canal again; coverage has run from last night into this morning.

What it means for you

The canal is one of Egypt's key dollar earners, so ships returning touches your pocket from afar — but the real effect needs time and official figures.

Our reading
