About Mazag Masr
What we do, how we measure, our principles, and for companies & media — open what you need.
Every week we read public news, comments, trends and songs — the way an Egyptian reads them: we get the joke, and the frustration behind it. After filtering and de-duplication, only what is about Egypt enters the weekly number.
Not literal translation. We understand Egyptian Arabic — its idioms, proverbs and the catchphrases that change every week.
When an Egyptian says “amazing”, sometimes they mean the opposite. Our models tell praise from mockery.
Every number comes with its volume, source types and separate confidence labels — and the story separates “Sources report” from “Our data suggests” from “Our reading”.
Tea level = the index value. Colour works the way you expect: red when the tone of the talk is negative (“cold tea”), green when it is positive (“koshary-strong”).
The index = a reading of the tone of the Egyptian public online content we collected (not an opinion poll, not a measure of how people feel): a weighted average of every life area's tone — the more people talk about an area, the more it counts, capped at 20% per area. See a real worked example.
Public and legal sources only: news, videos and comments, public channels, forums and search trends — respecting each platform's terms.
AI instructed for Egyptian Arabic identifies topic, tone and sarcasm — code checks numbers and names before publishing, and a reviewed sample measures tagging accuracy.
The daily glass, the weekly story and the live pulse — with numbers, volume and confidence labels, without hype.
